Chapter One: A History (Continued)
Dressed in authentic period uniforms, the band can portray Military or Civilian brass bands typical of the 1850-1870 era.

Currently, the band is acquiring the appropriate uniforms, equipment, and music that will allow them to authentically portray the Civil War era United States Marine Band under the name, The 1859 Marine Band. The band will also be performing music played by Buffalo Bill's Wild West Cowboy Band.
The band was honored to be one of 12 bands invited to participate in the 2003 National Civil War Band Festival held at The University of Campbellsville, Campbellsville, Kentucky on July 25-27, 2003.
Chapter One: A History & Roster
During the 2003 Festival, The Frontier Brigade Band participated in a special Massed Band performance conducted by the late Dr. Frederick Fennell, founder of the Eastman Wind Ensemble.
"When people see announced that there will be a concert [by a band playing historic American band music], they should make it their business to go to that concert because they are going to hear and see things that they have never heard or seen before. And, they will be a part of a present-day observation of the history of the United States of America - that's something none of us know quite enough about." - Dr. Frederick Fennell, 2003
Dr. Fennell was instrumental in rediscovering the band music of the American Civil War era and presenting it to a modern audience.
